About Kathryn (Kate) Fox

Kate Fox, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in working with clients undertaking critical life transitions – from college students to older adults navigating the landscape of aging. She has been trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy). She employs a cognitive behavioral, skills-based, mindfulness-informed approach.

Kate has experience in helping clients with problems associated with depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, caregiver stress, chronic illness, trauma, grief and loss, and substance use. Kate’s philosophy is that the therapy relationship is a collaborative process based on a focus on client values and goals, working to enhance client strengths while helping develop useful and healthy coping skills. Her approach to therapy is based on belief that each client has the capacity to be their “best self”, and she brings a direct, non-judgmental, and sensitive, approach to problem solving, balanced with humor and compassion. “I believe that my role is to walk with my clients along the path of a commitment to reaching the ultimate goal of living a life that is rich and meaningful.”

Kate received her Master’s in Social Work from the State University of New York at Albany and was a recipient of the Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education and the Internships in Aging Project award. She has worked in environments from a veterans’ home to a community care clinic, as well as in a college counseling center and in private practice.
