Dr. Laura Bokar is the CEO of Fox Valley Institute; she brings 30+ years of experience in the realm of family and marital therapy. Dr. Laura Bokar’s passion for helping people reach their greatest potential by encouraging growth in their lives and relationships was her premise in founding Fox Valley Institute (FVI) in 2001. Her vision has propelled Fox Valley Institute to a multi- award winning practice with a team of over thirty- five professionals that continues to grow.
Dr. Laura Bokar received her Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, and holds a Master’s Degree in Human and Child Development with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, as well as an Approved Clinical Supervisor. She is certified in RRT, as well as Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Critical Incident Response, Prepare/Enrich Pre-Post Marital Assessment, Primary Care Behavioral Health and Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Dr. Laura Bokar has lent her expertise in a variety of forums. She was featured in a special segment on ABC7 News Chicago entitled “Hope and Help for Veterans” where she addressed the healing effects veterans may experience by engaging in Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), a safe gentle and effective approach in dealing with trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Dr. Laura Bokar has been a guest on talk radio shows, a speaker for numerous organizations on a plethora of topics, authored magazine articles and has been published in a variety of journals. She has written and published a book - WE NEED TO TALK – 24 Simple Insights for Relationships.
Dr. Laura Bokar is an active member of the American Counseling Association, Illinois Counseling Association, and the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association. She is also a Clinical Fellow of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Laura sits on the Executive Board of Directors for Loaves & Fishes and is currently the President of the Kidsmatter Board. She is a former Board Member of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce (NACC) and the Illinois Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
