Susan Cain, Ed.D, LCSW

 

Dr. Susan Cain, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, is a seasoned and well-rounded therapist. Susan brings clinical skills and deep insights to her work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples.  Susan started her career as the youngest youth commission director in Illinois upon college graduation.

There she developed a youth court diversion program that combined work-experience with outdoor challenge course participation. She then worked at the Kalamazoo County Friend of the Court mediating divorce custody cases. She also spent many years working within an adult psychiatric in-patient unit. Dr. Cain is experienced in adoption matters and created an adoption home study program to help adoptive families adopt affordably both domestically and internationally.

Dr. Cain has maintained an active but limited private practice for many years and now looks forward to joining the talented therapists and staff at Fox Valley Institute. She is trained in CBT, DBT, life coaching, grief therapy and medical social work.

Dr. Cain is a partner at The Corporate Learning Institute, and holds a Doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership and a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago, and is on faculty at Benedictine University‘s Psychology department.

Dr. Cain has developed the DISC Professional Styles Assessment, an assessment that raises your self-awareness and how you respond to work and home life.

Dr. Cain is a dog lover and lives in Wheaton and West Michigan with her four Labrador Retrievers and family.
